Allen and Susan Rayburn were just like any other couple trying to make a living. He a respected businessman and she a beloved doctor at Yale-New Haven Hospital, they had a pretty comfortable life. Once they were able to get Susan's medical school debts in check, they decided to try for a child. It was a laborous two-year struggle, and they eventually had to seek experimental procedures to get a pregnancy to stick. On December 1, 1980, their bundle of joy, Harry, came into the world.

It was apparent early on that Harry was a gifted child. He possessed above average intelligence and was excited to learn. He liked tinkering and playing around with various tools and household items, to the point where he could make functioning contraptions from a pile of scrap. Public school eventually became too slow-paced for the young genius, so his parents sent him off to a special school for the sciences in Massachusetts. He would eventually graduate at the top of his class and pursue up to a Master's in physics from Yale University.

Fresh out of Yale, Harry relocated to Boston, Massachuetts, to begin preparations to take over the family business. Where his father managed the company remotely and relied on his advisory board, Harry wanted to take a more hands on approach. His knowledge of physics gave him a better idea of the bigger picture and the company's goal, but it was his lack in business finesse that caused him to struggle in those first few years. His problems were only made worse that, as one of the youngest CEOs many of his coworkers had ever seen, no one took him seriously. It took some time for him to find his footing, and combined with the doubt cast upon him, the company suffered at first. There were whispers of replacing him, and it would have come to pass had Harry not secured a contract with the CIA a few days before the board would move to fire him.

With the company stabilized, he could finally follow through with asking his longtime girlfriend to marry him. The wedding was an extravagant affair, with hundreds in attendance, and there was nothing but bright skies in the young couple's future. Of course, neither of them realized how short-lived the marriage would turn out to bE – at least compared to a lifetime of bliss. A few years after saying I do, Harry's work habits began to interfere with his personal life. Long nights became nights of never coming home at all; even though he was simply in the office squinting over a project or research, his wife was convinced he was cheating. When she ultimately cheated on him because of this assumption, the marriage fell apart. Harry was devastated and, since he hadn't ever been unfaithful as his wife expected, her guilt combined with the feelings she'd developed for the other man caused her to file for divorce.

Because of that betrayal, he swore off relationships and has kept to himself romantically. The talk around the office is that he's married to his work, but no one's really complaining since the company is doing better than it ever has before. His social circle is very small, and there are few people he trusts because of what happened with his wife. Most of his friends are co-workers that share his work habits, and he wouldn't have it any other way.

raymond palmer Basic Information
Ray Palmer is the Atom, the Mighty Mite, a superhero with the ability to shrink to incredible sizes while retaining his full density, making him a formidable combatant. He was a member of the original Justice League of America, where he gained a great deal of respect from his peers. Aside from his crime-fighting career, he is also one of the world's top scientific minds, given his background as a brilliant physicist. He is capable of shrinking to subatomic sizes, and explores the universe on a frontier unknown to any other man.

Ray Palmer is a hard-working, dedicated man. In fact, "dedicated" is hardly the word for it; "driven" is a little closer to the truth. Once Ray starts working on a problem or puzzle, there is absolutely no stopping him. This single-minded pursuit of his goals is more than a little responsible for Ray's shattered marriage, though it has occasionally come in handy to Ray the crime fighter. In spite of his obsessiveness, Ray is a level-headed hero and a likeable human being.

Basic Information The Atom is pulled from a mix of New Earth and the Arrowverse.
